Today was a day filled with music at Queen Elizabeth Park Community Centre (QEPCC), Oakville. A group of expectant kids from the Oakville Suzuki Association gathered in the Black Box Theatre to meet with 2Birds Band. The band is a unique combination of three string players, electric bass and drums, all of them students at the prestigious Berklee College in Boston.
This wonderful event was organized by the Oakville Suzuki Association and personally by Miss Jean Grieve, who is a tireless champion of music education for kids. She presented 2Birds Band at the beginning of the workshop.
And the kids weren’t disappointed. The musicians played couple of selections from their latest album, For Lack Of A Better World, released just a week ago and then it was the turn of the their younger “colleagues” to play on stage. They, in turn, also didn’t disappoint.
Matthew, Aisha, Helen and George played beautifully and received some inspirational feedback from the guys in the band.
Then it was time for a wonderful Jam Session. All the children joined, little bit tentatively at first but the smiles on their faces were very telling. They enjoyed interacting with each other and with the guys for 2Birds Band and created some wonderful moments of music making.
It was a wonderful occasion for me to photograph some of those beautiful moments.
